If you’re an Honor 10 user and want to customize your device, then unlocking the bootloader is the first step. By unlocking the bootloader, you can install custom ROMs, root your device, and perform other advanced modifications. In this article, we’ll guide you on how to unlock the bootloader on Honor 10.
What is Bootloader?
A bootloader is a program that loads the operating system of your device. It’s the first thing that runs when you turn on your device. Bootloader is locked by default to prevent unauthorized access to the device’s system files.
Why Unlock Bootloader?
Unlocking the bootloader allows users to install custom ROMs, kernels, and other modifications. It also enables users to root their device, which gives them administrative privileges over the system. However, unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty of the device.
Before proceeding, you need to make sure that you have the following:
- A computer with ADB and Fastboot installed
- A USB cable
- Honor 10 with at least 60% battery
- A Huawei ID
Steps to Unlock Bootloader on Honor 10
Step 1: Enable Developer Options and USB Debugging
To enable developer options, go to Settings > About Phone > Build Number and tap it seven times. Then, go back to Settings and open Developer options. Enable USB debugging.
Step 2: Register for Huawei Unlocking Code
Visit the Huawei unlock website and register for a Huawei ID. Then, navigate to the unlock page and provide the necessary details, including your device model, IMEI, and serial number. You’ll receive an unlocking code from Huawei via email.
Step 3: Boot into Fastboot Mode
Connect your device to your computer via USB cable. Power off your device and then press and hold the Power button and Volume Down button simultaneously until the Honor logo appears. Release the Power button but continue holding the Volume Down button until you see the Fastboot Mode screen.
Step 4: Unlock Bootloader
Open a command prompt or terminal window on your computer and navigate to the ADB and Fastboot directory. Then, enter the following command:
fastboot oem unlock [unlock code] Replace [unlock code] with the unlocking code that you received from Huawei. This will unlock the bootloader on your Honor 10.
Step 5: Reboot Device

fastboot reboot Your device will now reboot with an unlocked bootloader.
